Box Score West Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team was in action this evening on their home field against the visiting University of Charleston Golden Eagles. Both teams entered the match-up with a record of 2-1 and after a tough double overtime game the match ended in a draw with a final score of 1-1.
The Golden Eagles got on the board first with seconds left in the first half and the Bobcats got into trouble in front of their net, allowing Holly Bigg for Charleston to sneak the ball in. Ending the first half with Wesleyan down 0-1.
The Bobcats fought back in the second half outshooting the Gold Eagles, 9-2. And with 6:45 on the play clock, freshman, Rachel Ritchey tied the game up when she challenged the goalie, bringing her out of her net, and hammering the ball deep in the left corner. With the score, Ritchey, earned her fourth goal of the season.
Going into two over times, neither team could find the net again, ending the game with a final score of 1-1.
Overall, the Lady Bobcats outshot the Lady Golden Eagles throughout the match, 16-8.
Senior, Caroline Lalley, was in the goal for Wesleyan. Lalley recorded 6 saves for the game.
The Lady Bobcats are next in action this coming Thursday, September 22, on the road against Indiana (PA). Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
