Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va— Daria Abros'kina's jumper at the buzzer wouldn't fall as Seton Hill held on for a 69-68 victory on Thursday evening.
Standouts for West Virginia Wesleyan were Kaufman and Bridenbaugh, who both scored in double-digits—24 and 20 points, respectively.
The Lady Griffins had four players score in double figures: Tiara Strossel (11), Megan Mignogna (12), Katie Gattuso (14) and Paige Alviani (16).
West Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 20-10 lead in the opening half; Jamie Kaufman contributed eight of Wesleyan's points. Seton Hill went on a 21-6 run to close out the half, taking a 31-26 lead to the locker room. The Griffins' run was punctuated by three bombs from beyond the arc.
The Lady Bobcats went on a 9-0 run to knot the score at 54-54 midway through the second half. Lydia Bridenbaugh contributed five of Wesleyan's nine points. The teams traded buckets until the final minute of regulation. The Lady Griffins crawled back into the lead with a three point shot and two successful free throw attempts with under a minute to play. On the return trip down the court, Wesleyan cut the lead to one at 69-68 when Bridenbaugh drained two bonus shots. Seton Hill capitalized on a last second missed shot by Abros'kina, sealing the win.
The Lady Bobcats are now 8-4 on the season and 5-2 in conference play. They return to road action for a two game stint facing Bluefield State on Tuesday, January 17, and traveling to West Liberty on Saturday, January 21. Wesleyan returns to the Rockefeller center on Monday, January 23, against conference foe Fairmont State; action begins at 5:30 p.m.
