WEST LIBERTY, W.Va.—West Liberty's defense forced 17 Lady Bobcat turnovers on their way to a 69-62 win on Saturday afternoon.

The Hilltoppers limited Wesleyan's Lydia Bridenbaugh (5-of-12) and Jamie Kaufman (3-of-10) to a combined 8-of-22 shooting and 26 points—17 below the dynamic duos average. Bridenbaugh finished the day with 17 points, while Kaufman was held to a season-low nine.

The WL attack was led by Hillary Southworth's game-high 18 points. Kayla Ayers added 14 points, Briana Kamarec tallied 13 and Chelsea Bradley notched 10 for the Hilltoppers. Ayers and Kamarec each hit three shots from beyond the arc in the contest.

West Liberty sank 10 threes on the afternoon while Wesleyan only hit on four.

Wesleyan jumped out to a 10-3 lead, taking advantage of a pair of West Liberty turnovers. The Hilltoppers answered with a 10-0 sprint which included a pair of long range bombs to take a 13-10 lead. The teams would trade baskets the rest of the half and go to the locker room with the score knotted at 32-32.

The Hilltoppers opened the second 20 minutes with a 13-4 jolt to take a 45-36 advantage, Southworth contributed eight of the 13 points. Wesleyan climbed back with a 12-2 run to tie the game at 55-55, Kerry Conroy hit a clutch three during the run. West Liberty sealed the game with a 14-5 run that included a trio of treys to claim the 69-62 win.    

Wesleyan slips to 9-5 overall and 6-3 in league play. The Lady Bobcats look to get back on the winning track Monday evening at home against Fairmont State. The game is set to tip-off at 5:30 and features two of the nation's top scorers in Wesleyan's Lydia Bridenbaugh and Fairmont's Kaitlin Snyder.
