WEST LIBERTY, W.Va.— West Liberty hit 10 threes on its way to an 89-76 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Kelsey Williams and Mike Washington each registered double-doubles for the Bobcats. Williams finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Washington added a season-high 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Reggie Chambers (15) and Raymont McElroy (12) also tallied double figures for Wesleyan. Chambers dished out a game-high seven assists.
The Hilltoppers' high-octane offense was paced by 32 points from Alex Faulk. Chris Morrow notched 15 points and was 4-of-4 from long distance. C.J. Hester recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Shawn Dyer and Tim Hausfeld finished with 10 points each for the 'Toppers.
West Liberty raced out to a 40-18 lead on the strength of six buckets from beyond the arc in the first half. Wesleyan closed the half with a 16-5 sprint to narrow the gap to 45-34 at the break, the Bobcats hit 10-of-10 free throws during the run.
The Bobcats opened the second half with another 16-5 spurt to take a brief 51-50 lead, Colby Wohlleb ignited the run with a three. The Hilltoppers countered with a 16-4 jolt to make it 66-55 and would not look back on their way to the 89-76 victory.
WVWC drops to 8-6 on the year and 4-6 in conference play. The Bobcats return to the Rockefeller Center on Monday to kick-off a three-game rivalry filled homestand against Fairmont State at 7:30 p.m.
