Bobcats Kick Off Three Game Homestand Monday Against Fairmont State

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Fairmont State makes the 50 mile trip south down I-79 to Buckhannon on Monday night to do battle with the Bobcats.

The women's game features two of the nation's top scorers in Wesleyan senior Lydia Bridenbaugh and Fairmont State junior Kaitlin Snyder. Snyder and Bridenbaugh are tied for fourth in the country in scoring, averaging 22.6 points per contest.

The Lady Bobcats enter Monday's contest with a 9-5 overall record and 6-3 in league play. Wesleyan looks to bounce back after a 69-62 setback at West Liberty. The Lady Falcons are 10-5 on the year and 7-4 in WVIAC play. FSU is coming off a 66-56 win over Alderson-Broaddus. Fairmont State's Steve McDonald is the only head coach among the four with experience in this intense rivalry. McDonald is 7-8 in his career against the Lady Bobcats, including a 3-3 mark in Buckhannon.

While Bridenbaugh and Snyder get most of the attention on their respective teams, each has a solid post presence. For the Lady Bobcats it's senior Jamie Kaufman who averages 19.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest.  The Lady Falcons counter with conference freshman of the year candidate Hailey Garrett who averages 12.3 points and six rebounds per game.

 The men's contest also features a pair of prolific scorers in the Bobcats' Kelsey Williams and the Fighting Falcons' Steve Custis. Williams averages 20.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest. Custis is fifth in the nation, netting 22.9 points per contest. The Falcons have another proficient backcourt scoring threat in junior Isaac Thornton who adds 20.8 points per game.

The Bobcats are 8-6 on the year and 4-6 in conference play. Wesleyan looks to get back in the win column after an 89-76 defeat at #3 West Liberty. The Fighting Falcons are 6-9 overall and 4-7 in league play. FSU looks to bounce back after dropping an 81-70 loss at the hands of Alderson-Broaddus.

Admission to Monday's contest is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12, and children under six are free. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 5:30 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 7:30.
