BUCKHANNON, W.Va—Reggie Chambers paced the Bobcats to a 70-53 victory over the Fighting Falcons on Monday night.
In double figures for the Bobcats were Raymont McElroy (16), Kelsey Williams (12) and Chambers (20). Williams finished the contest with a double-double (12 points, 13 rebounds).
Scoring in double-digits for the falcons were Steve Custis (20) and Isaac Thornton, who finished with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds).
West Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 17-2 lead early in the first half, sparked by seven points from McElroy. Fairmont State rallied with an 18-7 burst to cut the lead to 24-20; Thornton scored 10-of-18 Falcon points during the run.
The Bobcats held Fairmont to 32 percent shooting from the field in the first half and carried a 34–29 lead to the locker room.
Wesleyan scored 25 of the first 32 points of the second half to outpace the Falcons, claiming the 70-53 victory.
WVWC improves to 9-6 overall and 5-6 in league play. The Bobcats return to action on Thursday at home against Alderson-Broaddus. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
