Lady Bobcats Rally Past A-B, 72-61

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan rallied from a 14-point second half deficit to down Alderson-Broaddus 72-61, on Thursday evening.  

Lydia Bridenbaugh led the Lady Bobcats with 27 points. Jamie Kaufman added 19 points.

Amanda Peoples (17) and Natalie Smith (10) finished with double figures for the Lady Battlers.

Alderson-Broaddus jumped out to a 21-11 lead in the first half, the Lady Battlers hit on a trio of threes to ignite the hot start. Wesleyan closed the gap to 21-18, but A-B went to the break with a 26-20 lead.

The Lady Battlers out rebounded the Lady Bobcats 22-16, including grabbing seven offensive rebounds.

A-B would again push its advantage to 47-33, scoring 21 of the first 34 points in the second half. Wesleyan answered with a 22-7 run to take a 56-54 lead—the run was ignited by a pair of Kerry Conroy threes. Bridenbaugh broke a 58-58 tie with a three from the corner and the Lady Bobcats wouldn't look back, claiming the 72-61 victory.

Wesleyan is now 11-5 overall and 8-3 in WVIAC play. The Lady Bobcats welcome Davis & Elkins on Saturday at 2 p.m.
