Bobcats, Battlers Tangle in Buckhannon Thursday

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Another rival rolls into Buckhannon on Thursday night as the Battlers from Alderson-Broaddus make the short trip to Buckhannon to take on the Bobcats.

The Lady Bobcats are 10-5 overall and 7-3 in league play. Wesleyan is coming off a 61-55 win over Fairmont State on Monday; Jamie Kaufman scored 25 points and pulled down a career-best 16 rebounds. The Lady Bobcats are led by Lydia Bridenbagh's 21.9 points per game. Kaufman adds 20.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest.

The Lady Battlers are on a six-game skid entering Thursday's contest with an overall record of 5-12 and 3-10 in conference play. A-B has only reached the 60 point mark once during the skid. The Lady Battlers are paced by Amanda Peoples' 10.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

Wesleyan's men have won three of four and are currently 9-6 on the year and 5-6 in WVIAC play. WVWC has won three straight inside the friendly confines of the Rockefeller Center. The Bobcats are coming off a 70-53 victory against Fairmont State. Kelsey Williams leads the way with 19.8 points and league-best 9.9 rebounds per contest. Raymont McElroy (17.3 ppg) and Reggie Chambers (12.6) also add double figures for Wesleyan.

Alderson-Broaddus saw its 13-game win streak snapped on Monday evening at home at the hands of Wheeling Jesuit. The Battlers enter Buckhannon with a record of 14-3 overall and 12-2 in league play. A-B has won seven road contests in a row. The Battlers are powered by Kurklin Bohanon's 21.1 points per contest (third in the WVIAC). Bohanon is hitting on 54 percent of his shots from the field, including 48 percent from three and leads the league in free throw percentage at 92 percent. Nate Barnes (15.8 ppg) and Roy Brown (11.5 ppg) are also prolific scorers for A-B.

Admission to Monday's contest is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12, and children under six are free. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 5:30 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 7:30.
