Big First Half Propels Wesleyan Past D&E, 64-54

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan raced out to a 34-18 halftime lead and wouldn't look back, rolling to a 64-54 win over Davis & Elkins on Saturday.

Jamie Kaufman (27 points, 11 rebounds) and Brittany Maxey (13 points, 10 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles for Wesleyan.


Jordan Lykes (14) and Rachel Gostomski (12) tallied double figures for the Lady Senators.  
D&E managed to hit on just 6-of-31 (19 percent) in the first half. The Lady Bobcats held a 27-22 advantage on the glass. Wesleyan scored 14 points off of eight Davis & Elkins turnovers in the first half.

The Lady Senators would close the gap to six at 53-47 in the second half, but the Lady Bobcats would push the lead back to double figures to claim the 64-53 win.

The Lady Bobcats improve to 12-5 on the year and 9-3 in league play. WVWC heads to conference-leader Concord on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m.
