Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan capitalized on a 21-2 run in the first half to defeat Charleston, 90-76 on Wednesday afternoon.
Lydia Bridenbaugh led four Lady Bobcats in double figures, with 32 points. Danae Hill added 19 points with a trio of three point buckets. Jamie Kaufman finished with 19 points, while Brittany Maxey netted 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Daria Abros'kina dished out a game-high nine assists.
Bridenbaugh's third basket of the game sent her over the 1,500 point milestone and she now has 1,526 career points.
The Lady Golden Eagles were paced by Erika Rousculp's double-double—which included 19 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
West Virginia Wesleyan broke open a close 14-12 game with a 21-2 run to take a commanding 35-14 lead, Bridenbaugh registered 10 points during the run. WVWC went to the locker room with a 48-30 lead.
The Lady Bobcats got a 10-0 jolt to extend their advantage to the largest of the game at 64-40 early in the second half; the run was keyed by a traditional three-point play from Hill. UC got back in the game with a 17-3 sprint to decrease the gap to 67-57, but the Golden Eagles wouldn't get any closer as Wesleyan went on to claim the 90-76 win.
The Lady Bobcats are now 7-3 overall and 4-1 in WVIAC play. Wesleyan travels to Shepherd on Monday, January 9. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
