Charleston Edges Wesleyan, 68-62

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston made the most of free throw opportunities down the stretch to seal a 68-62 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday evening.

Travis Johnson led the Bobcat attack with 19 points. Kelsey Williams notched 13 points and Raymont McElroy finished with 10.

P.J. Reyes was the catalyst for the Golden Eagles with 22 points, Evan Faulkner tallied 13 points.

 West Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first half, with Johnson contributing five points. The Golden Eagles closed the half with an 8-2 dash, trimming the lead to 32-29 at the break.

The Bobcats broke a 41-41 tie with an 8-0 run to take a 49-41 lead; Williams registered six of the eight points, including an emphatic dunk on the fast break. Charleston closed the game with a 27-13 run to take the 68-62 win. Reyes' traditional three point play during the run put the Golden Eagles in front for good at 60-59. Charleston made nine shots at the charity stripe in the final minute.

Wesleyan is 6-4 on the year and 2-4 in conference play. The Bobcats travel to Shepherd on Monday, January 9 for an 8 p.m. contest.
