BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan earned a physical victory over Wheeling Jesuit, 2-1 on Wednesday evening.
Nicolay Netskar put the Cardinals in front 1-0 with a goal five minutes into the second half. Jordan Halpern drove home the equalizer 15 minutes later to send the game into overtime. In the extra session, Joe Ferraracci found the back of the net with a header off a perfectly placed pass from Nicholas Amberman.
The Bobcats dominated play, outshooting WJU 17-4, including a nine to three advantage in shots on goal. The teams combined for five yellow cards and 34 fouls in the game.
Derik Ayers made two saves for Wesleyan, while Cody Thompson registered seven saves for WJU in the contest.
Wesleyan plays host to Slippery Rock on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
