Bobcats Down Glenville State, 82-72

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Wesleyan secured Pat Beilein's first WVIAC victory with an 82-72 win over Glenville State on Saturday evening.

Kelsey Williams led all scorers with 24 points and ripped down 10 rebounds. Noah Cottrill finished with 15 points and dished out a game-high six assists. Caleb Ashley (13) and Soren Dossing (11) also finished in double figures for the Bobcats.

Glenville State was led by Lamar Mallory's double-double (22 points, 15 rebounds). Jamel Morris and Kevin Gray each scored 16 points for the Pioneers.

Wesleyan sank 21-of-24 attempts at the free throw line, while the Pioneers managed to make only 7-of-14 attempts. GSC dominated on the glass with a 43-27 advantage, including 17 offensive rebounds which turned into 20 second chance points.

The Pioneers broke a 15-15 tie in the first half with a 9-0 run to take a 24-15 lead. Wesleyan closed the half with a 12-0 run to take a 37-30 lead into the break. Ashley buried back-to-back threes to close the half.

Wesleyan opened the second half with a 17-7 surge to take their largest lead of the game at 55-37. The Pioneers cut the Wesleyan advantage to six at 75-69 with two minutes to play, but the Bobcats closed out the game by hitting 7-of-8 attempts at the charity stripe to claim the 82-72 victory.

The Bobcats host Concord next Saturday at 4 p.m.
