BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Raymont McElroy poured in 48 (31 second half) points to lead West Virginia Wesleyan to a 93-73 win over Ohio Valley on Saturday.
McElroy's 48 points are the most since Justin Caldwell scored 43 in 2010.
Kelsey Williams and Reggie Chambers each registered a double-doubles. Williams netted 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Chambers tallied 16 points and handed out 10 assists.
Austin Cunningham (22), Kendall Allison (20), Jordan Brooks (14) and Rodney Everage (13) all scored in double figures for Ohio Valley.
West Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to an 8-0 lead, McElroy scored six of the team's eight points. OVU got back in the game with a 14-2 jolt to take a 14-10 lead, Cunningham ignited the run with seven points. The Bobcats pulled back in front with a 12-0 run to take a 29-20 advantage, McElroy notched seven points on the run. WVWC went to the locker room with a 34-25 lead.
The Bobcats went 7-of-7 from the charity stripe in the first half, compared to just 1-of-5 for OVU.
Ohio Valley closed the gap with a 14-3 sprint early in the second half to 48-44. The Bobcats opened the lead back up with 9-1 run to extend the advantage to 57-45; Chambers netted seven points on the run. The Bobcats would cruise from there to the 93-73 victory.
Wesleyan is now 13-6 on the year and 9-6 in league play. The Bobcats return to action on Thursday at home against Glenville State at 7:30 p.m.
