Warner Collects 750th Career Win

SALEM, Va. -- West Virginia Wesleyan softball coach Steve Warner reached a career milestone with his 750th victory on Saturday evening in an 8-0 victory over Edinboro University.

Warner is in his 21st year at the helm for the Bobcats.

West Virginia Wesleyan 7, Chowan 0

Megan Malenstyn and Nicole Friedemann picked up RBI singles in the first to put Wesleyan in front 2-0. Brittanie Gloyd kept Wesleyan rolling in the second with a two-RBI triple, she would later score on single by Paige Cummings.  Wesleyan added a run in the third on an RBI double from Kelli McCullough.  Jacqui Omichinski plated Wesleyan's final run with a single in the sixth to set the 7-0 margin.

Omichinski worked a two-hit complete game with five strikeouts and two walks.

Edinboro 9, West Virginia Wesleyan 1

Edinboro scored one run in the first and four in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Jacqui Omichinski cut the lead to 5-1 with an RBI groundout in the fourth. The Fighting Scots got four RBI singles in the sixth to claim the 9-1 win.

Kaitlyn Carey surrendered nine runs (six earned) in six innings of work, while striking out four and walking one.

West Virginia Wesleyan 4, Mansfield 1

Jacqui Omichinski and Brittanie Gloyd got WVWC on the board with RBI singles in the fourth. Kelli McCullough capped the inning with a two-RBI single to push the advantage to 4-0. Mansfield used an RBI double in the sixth to trim the lead to 4-1, but it wasn't enough as Wesleyan came away with the 4-1 victory.

Hillary Perez-Ashley hurled the complete game, allowing one run on seven hits with 12 strikeouts and one walk.

West Virginia Wesleyan 8, Edinboro 0

The Bobcats broke through in the first with an RBI double from Paige Cummings. Kaitlyn Carey kept the offense going in the second with a two-run homer. Brittanie Gloyd and Megan Malenstyn picked up RBI in the inning. The Bobcats added another run on an error to take a 6-0 lead after two innings. Paige Cummings belted a two-run homer in the sixth to send Wesleyan home with the 8-0 win. 

Jacqui Omichinski picked up the win, tossing six scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out eight and walking one.

West Virginia Wesleyan 6, Gannon 2  

Megan Malenstyn got the Bobcats on the board with a two-run blast in the second inning. Paige Cummings, Jacqui Omichinski and Nicole Friedemann all added RBI singles in the third. WVWC scored a run on an error in the inning to take a 6-0 lead. Gannon pushed across two runs in the fifth with a home run, but Wesleyan was able to come away with the 6-2 win.  

Hillary Perez-Ashley earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings, with six strikeouts and one walk.
