Bobcats Take One Against Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan and Shepherd split a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats took game one 2-0, and fell in game two by a score of 5-1.

In game one, Wesleyan broke through in the first inning on an RBI single by Paige Cummings. Cummings added a second RBI single in the third, and the Bobcats would go on to the 2-0 victory.

Jacqui Omichinski (5-2) hurled the complete game, scattering four hits while striking out eight and walking one.

In game two, Wesleyan's Kelli McCullough got the scoring started with an RBI single in the second. The Rams scored a pair of runs in the third on Wesleyan errors and added an RBI single to grab a 3-1 lead.  SU added two in the sixth with a pair of RBI extra base hits to set the 5-1 margin.   

Hillary Perez-Ashley (5-3) worked six innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Wesleyan is now 16-8 overall and 1-1 in WVIAC. The Bobcats travel to Seton Hill for a doubleheader on Monday at 3 p.m.
