Box Score 2 ATHENS, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan tallied a sweep of Concord on Wednesday. The Bobcats took game one, 8-1 and were able to plate a seventh inning run to steal game two, 1-0.
In game one, Amanda Davis got the Bobcats on the board in the second with an RBI double. Alex Furr earned a bases-loaded walk and Paige Cummings added a two-RBI single to make the score 4-0 after two innings. The Wesleyan offense continued to roll in the fourth with an RBI double from Kaitlyn Carey, she would later score on a single by Jacqui Omichinski to push the advantage to 6-0. The Bobcats scored a run on a passed ball in the fifth. Omichinski drove in a run in the sixth with a single to push the lead to 8-0. The Mountain Lions plated a run on an error in the sixth to set the 8-1 margin.
Omichinski (9-2) picked up her sixth straight win, surrendering one run on three hits while striking out eight and walking one.
In game two, the Bobcats were able to use a seventh inning sacrifice fly by Omichinski to take a 1-0 win. The inning was aided by a passed ball that put the winning run on third.
Hillary Perez-Ashley (6-3) went the distance, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Wesleyan improves to 20-8 overall and 5-1 in WVIAC play. The Bobcats take Culpepper Field for the first time in 2012 on Saturday as they welcome Ohio Valley at 1 p.m.
