BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan and Ohio Valley each picked up a win on Saturday afternoon at Culpepper Field. The Fighting Scots claimed game one, 4-2 in eight innings, while the Bobcats bounced back to take game two, 5-1.

In game one, OVU scratched across a run in the third on an RBI single. Wesleyan grabbed a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a two-RBI single by Megan Malenstyn. The Fighting Scots plated a run in the seventh on three Wesleyan errors to send the game to extra innings, tied at 2-2. OVU got a two-RBI double in the eighth to claim the 4-3 victory.  

Jacqui Omichinski (9-3) was saddled with the loss, working the complete game—surrendering four runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out 10 and walking one.  

In game two, Kelli McCullough got the Bobcats on the scoreboard in the second with an RBI single. Wesleyan would extend its advantage to 2-0 in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Nicole Friedemann. McCullough followed with her second RBI to make the score 3-0 after four innings.  OVU trimmed the lead to 3-1 with a solo home run in the fifth. Wesleyan responded with a two-RBI single from Kaitlyn Carey to push the advantage to 5-1.

Carey (6-3) went the distance to pick up the win, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts.  

The Bobcats are now 21-9 overall and 6-2 in WVIAC play. Wesleyan welcomes Glenville State on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
