Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. – The West Virginia Wesleyan softball team is 5-3 through eight games in Florida.
Mary 9, West Virginia Wesleyan 6
Mary tallied four runs in the first to take a 4-0 lead. Paige Cummings picked up a pair of RBI in the third with a single and Omichinski added a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-3. Mary added solo homers in both the third and fourth to push the lead to 6-3. Wesleyan added a run in the fifth to get within two at 6-4. Mary added three runs in the sixth. Omichinski recorded an RBI double in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Mary came away with a 9-6 win.
Hillary Perez-Ashley got the start, working six innings, surrendering nine runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Wilmington 6, West Virginia Wesleyan 1
Wilmington plated four runs in the first and two in the third to grab a 6-0 lead. Wesleyan scored one in the third on an RBI by Paige Cummings, but Wilmington was able to grab the 6-1 win.
Jacqui Omichinski worked seven innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out six and walking three.
West Virginia Wesleyan 4, St. Anselm 0
Alex Furr and Paige Cummings each recorded RBI in the fifth. The Bobcats added a third run in the inning on an error. Cummings added a sacrifice fly in the seventh to set the final margin at 4-0.
Kaitlyn Carey hurled a complete game shutout, scattering three hits while striking out five and walking two.
Assumption 6, West Virginia Wesleyan 2
Assumption tallied one run in the first, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 6-0 lead. Paige Cummings belted a two-run blast in the sixth, but it wasn't enough as Assumption came away with a 6-2 win.
Hillary Perez-Ashley took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
West Virginia Wesleyan 6, Dominican 5
Each team scored a run in the first inning on an error. Dominican grabbed a brief 2-1 lead in the second on an RBI single. Amanda Davis knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly. Dominican picked up a run in the third on an error, and two runs in the fourth on consecutive RBI singles to extend its advantage to 5-2. The Bobcats got back in the game with an RBI triple by Alex Furr in the bottom of the fourth. Furr would later score on a single by Paige Cummings to trim the deficit to 5-4. Wesleyan tied the game at 5-5 on a passed ball in the sixth, and Nicole Friedemann stole home in the seventh to give Wesleyan the 6-5 win.
Kaitlyn Carey picked up the win, tossing seven innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on 10 hits while striking out five and walking two.
West Virginia Wesleyan 8, Post 0
Wesleyan got on the scoreboard in the second on an RBI triple by Amanda Davis. The Bobcats took advantage of an error, four walks and a bases-loaded hit by pitch to score five runs in the third and make it 6-0. Davis delivered an RBI double in the fifth and would later score on an error to set the final 8-0 margin.
Jacqui Omichinski worked five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four and walking five.
West Virginia Wesleyan 8, Wilmington 0
Megan Malenstyn got the socring started with an RBI double in the first. Kaitlyn Carey added an RBI single and the Bobcats added a run on an error to make the score 4-0 after one inning. Nicole Friedeman picked up an RBI in the third to make it 5-0. The Bobcats added a run on an error in the sixth followed by RBI from both Paige Cummings and Jacqui Omichinski

The Bobcats got on the board in the third on an RBI single by Paige Cummings. Wesleyan added a run on an error in the fifth to make it 2-0. Kelli McCollough and Alex Furr each picked up RBI in the sixth to make it 4-0.
Jacqui Omichinski worked a one-hit complete game, striking out 13.
