AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Ashland downed West Virginia Wesleyan, 8-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
Wesleyan opened the scoring with an RBI single by Aaron Wiegel in the first inning. Ashalnd knotted the game at 1-1 in the bottom half with an RBI double. Ashland took advantage of walks and hit batters in the second to score 4 runs and go in front 5-1. The Eagles added a run in the third on a sacrifice fly. Ashland added an RBI double and a bases loaded hit batter to extend the lead to 8-1. Mark Darlington picked up a two-RBI double in the fifth, but it would be enough, as Ashland picked up the 8-3 win.
Shaun McCoy started the game, working four innings, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on six hits with five walks and six strikeouts. Shea Davis tossed four innings, scattering a pair of hits while walking six and striking out one.
