Box Score 2 BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan continued its stellar play with a sweep over Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday. The Bobcats claimed a 3-0 decision in game one, and notched a 5-2 win in game two.
In game one, Wesleyan got on the scoreboard in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from Kaitlyn Carey. Amanda Davis drove in a run in the fourth and Alex Furr tacked on an RBI single in the sixth to power Wesleyan to the 3-0 win.
Hillary Perez-Ashley (10-3) went the distance, allowing just five hits with 10 strikeouts.
In game two, Megan Malenstyn put Wesleyan in front 1-0 with an RBI single in the first. Furr drove home a run with an RBI triple in the second and would score on a single by Brittanie Gloyd to make the score 3-0. Gloyd and Malenstyn made the score 5-0 with back-to-back RBI doubles in the fourth. The Cardinals scored a pair of runs in the sixth, but Carey was able to come in and shut the door to seal the 5-2 victory.
Jacqui Omichinski (12-4) hurled five innings, yielding two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking one. Carey worked two innings, giving up one hit with two strikeouts to earn her third save of the year.
The Bobcats are now 28-10 overall and 13-3 in WVIAC play. Wesleyan will look to continue its five game winning streak as they host West Liberty on Sunday at 1 p.m.
