VIENNA, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan advanced to the WVIAC Championship with a 3-1 win over West Virginia State on Friday afternoon. 

A WVSU error gave Wesleyan a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Jackets knotted the game at 1-1 with an RBI double in the second. Paige Cummings broke the tie in the fourth with a sacrifice fly, and Megan Malenstyn followed with an RBI single as the Bobcats would go on to claim the 3-1 win.

Hillary Perez-Ashley (16-3) tossed the complete game, yielding one run on five hits with a pair of strikeouts and one walk.

The Bobcats will play at 11 a.m.  tomorrow against an opponent to be announced later.
