ERIE, Pa. – Gannon rallied from a pair of one goal deficits in the second half to claim a 4-3 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday night.
The Golden Knights' Sean Pike netted the only goal of the first half, just five minutes in to grab a 1-0 lead.
Wesleyan knotted the game at one in the 60th minute on a goal from Daniel Smee. Under 10 minutes later, Matthew Brown found the back of the net to put WVWC ahead 2-1. Gannon's Robbie Bennett answered less than three minutes later tying the game at 2-2. Brown's second goal of the game put the Bobcats back in front 3-2 with under five minutes left. Sean Washek's equalizer in the 88th minute sent the game to overtime tied at 3-3.
Haffi Bjarnason scored the game-winner for Gannon in the second overtime.
Wesleyan outshot Gannon 24-17 overall and 10-7 in shots on goal.
Justin McAtee notched three saves on the night.
The Bobcats head to California (Pa.) on September 7 at 2 p.m.
