MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Millersville scored 20 unanswered points in the second half to claim a 41-17 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday night.
Nate Montana completed 27-of-49 passes for 255 yards with two touchdowns, but was plagued by a pair of interceptions. Desmond Sivels led the ground attack with 50 yards on 10 carries. Stephen Campbell hauled in eight passes for 91 yards and scored one touchdown. Donte Boston pulled down four passes for 57 yards and scored once.
Wake Forest transfer Ted Stachitas tossed for 166 yards on 12-of-24 passing with one touchdown and two interceptions for the Marauders. He also rushed for 120 yards on 19 carries and reached pay dirt once. Matt Egenrieder caught three passes for 85 yards.
Millersville drove to the Wesleyan six yard line on its second possession of the game, but a fumble recovered by the Bobcats' Kevius Morgan came up with the recovery. Wesleyan was able to take advantage of the turnover with a 43-yard Kasper Bernild field goal to go on top 3-0. The Marauders pinned the Bobcats deep in their own end with a punt on their next trip. Millersville took advantage of the field position, forcing a fumble and recovering it on the one yard line where Mike Jones punched it in, putting the Marauders up 7-3 after one quarter.
Wesleyan was sparked by a fake punt in the second quarter that saw Montana connect with Boston to put the Bobcats back in front 10-7—a lead they would take into the locker room.
Jordan Rigby picked off a Wesleyan pass early in the second half and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown, putting Millersville on top 14-10. Stachitas dove in from five yards out to extend the Marauder lead to 21-10. On the ensuing kickoff, Stephon Knox set Wesleyan up in Millersville territory which led to Montana finding Campbell—trimming the Marauder lead to 21-17. Stachitas hit Jones from seven yards out to push the Millersville lead back to 11 at 28-17.
Jones put the nail in the Wesleyan coffin when he exploded in from six yards away to make the score 35-17. Myron Myles reached pay dirt from 25 yards out to register the game's final tally and set the final 41-17 margin.
Wesleyan hosts Bentley (Mass.) next Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 12 p.m.
