CALIFORNIA, Pa.--The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-1 lead at the half and cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Vulcans on Friday evening.
The first goal for WVWC came on a penalty kick by Daniel Smee in the 25th minute of play. Alaxandre Zidani added the team's second goal via assists by Smee and Jordan Halpern. Robert Brenton tallied the third goal in the final minute of the first half, courtesy of an assist by Nicholas Amberman.
In the second half, Tom Ingall found the back of the net aided by an assist from Simon Marange. Cal finally broke through on a penalty kick by Jeffery Kyei, which would be the Vulcans' only tally of the game.
Derek Ayers made four saves in the net for Wesleyan.
The Bobcats play their home opener on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against conference foe, Concord.
