BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - West Virginia Wesleyan picked up its third straight win with a decisive 77-57 victory over Bluefield State Monday night.
Two of the Wesleyan Bobcats came away with double- doubles in the WVWC win. Kelsey Williams scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, completing his ninth double-double on the season and teammate Raymond Warren added 10 points and dished out 11 assists. T.J. Thompson scored a career-high 18 points and Noah Cottrill came away with 10 points.
Treon Claiborne (14) and Antoine Bryant (10) finished in double figures for the Blues.
Bluefield and Wesleyan battled back and forth through the first 17 minutes of the half with the Blues holding a 32-27 lead. The Bobcats closed the half with a 12-2 surge to take a 39-34 lead into the break. Cottrill capped the run with a three just before the buzzer.
Wesleyan went 4-8 from behind the arc in the first half. Warren scored 10 points and dished out five assists to help the Bobcats capture the halftime lead.
Bluefield State pulled within one at 41-40, but Wesleyan answered with a 15-2 run that included an emphatic dunk by Williams. The Bobcats coasted from there to the 77-57 victory.
The Bobcats travel to Ohio Valley on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
