Fighting Scots Knock Off Wesleyan, 83-82 in OT

VIENNA, W.Va. – Ohio Valley's Ashton Brown poured in 39 points to lead the Fighting Scots to a stunning 83-82 victory in overtime against Wesleyan on Thursday night.

T.J. Thompson registered a career-best 29 points, including burying 6-of-9 shots from beyond the arc. Soren Dossing netted a season-high 26 points.

Povilas Dambrauskas finished with 11 points for Ohio Valley.

The Fighting Scots built a 25-16 lead early in the first half. Wesleyan answered by closing the half on a 24-7 surge to go in front 40-32. Thompson scored 14 points during the run.

OVU tied the game at 52-52 and the teams traded baskets the rest of the half. Dossing's three at the buzzer didn't fall, sending the game to overtime tied at 72-72.

The war continued until Brown stepped to the line with nine ticks on the clock and sank three free throws. Noah Cottrill had a shot at the horn, but it wouldn't go, as OVU escaped with the 83-82 victory.

Wesleyan returns to the Rockefeller Center on Saturday against Wheeling Jesuit at 4 p.m.
