Box Score Buckhannon, W.Va. – Women's Soccer continue their good form at home with a 1-0 win against Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Bobcat's registered their third consecutive win with the game winning goal coming within the first 10 minutes of play. Wesleyan's Kristi Dalton with a magnificent strike from 35 yards out left the Cardinals goalkeeper, Holly Kraus, rooted to the spot as the ball flew out of her reach.
With Wesleyan taking the early lead, it was up to the Cardinals to respond. Wesleyan stood strong, defending well, with neither team creating any real clear cut chances.
The Bobcat's saw out the win outshooting the Cardinals 11-10. Wesleyan's goalkeeper Lauren Duncan, recorded 6 saves while Kraus was called into action 4 times. Wheeling had 2 corner kicks to Wesleyan's 1.
The rivalry between the two teams was apparent with a total of 34 fouls being committed. The game became heated within the 24th minute resulting in the Cardinal's Coaches being cautioned.
The Lady Bobcat's are now 4-1-1 in the Mountain East Conference, and 5-3-1 overall. Women's Soccer are back in action Saturday October 5 when they travel to Charleston for a 5:00pm kick off.
