Men's Soccer Just Miss Out

Wheeling, W.Va. -- Men's Soccer hopes of being in the MEC playoffs were lost after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcat's needed just a tie to secure 4th position in regular season, whereas the Cardinals had to win if they wanted to take the fourth and final playoff position. When these two teams met earlier this season, nothing separated them with the game ending 1-1.

In a closely fought game, it appeared that both teams would be going into the half tied 0-0 but with just 7 seconds left, the Cardinal's Luke Roan gave Wheeling the 1-0 lead that turned out to be the decisive goal.

Wesleyan outshot Wheeling Jesuit 11-10 but only managed 2 on target to Wheeling's 4. The Cardinal's outweighed the Bobcat's in corner kicks 14-5.

This defeat closes the Bobcat's first ever MEC regular season finishing in 5th place overall with a 5-4-3 Conference record. Men's Soccer look to add one more win to their overall record (7-6-4) when they host Lock Haven Friday November 1 at 5:00pm in their final game of their season.
