Buckhannon, W.Va. -- The Weslyean Bobcat Football will travel to do battle with the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons on Halloween night. Game time on the gridiron is set for 7pm (pending no witche, ghost, or gobling interference). For the Bobcats, they come off of a much needed, and feel good, 38-21 win at home verse the Hilltoppers of West Liberty, while Fairmont is coming off the sore end of a 41-5 loss at Urbana.
The long time rivalry of the 'Cats and Falcons continues from the WVIAC in to the newly formed MEC. Wesleyan will bring in a 3-4 record in conference play, looking to get to a very respectable .500 winning percentage. Fairmont is struggling on the season and will look to improve on their 1-5 record in the MEC.
After last Saturday's performance, Wesleyan will most likely look to take flight verse the Falcons in an air attack that can bust a big play at any time. Senior Lavaughn Hughes along with Connor Arlia, Ricky Connor and Justin Heinauer look to be the main targets for junior quarterback Jeremy Mussleman, but with Zach Shademan's 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns against West Libertylast Saturday running lanes for exploding, timely runs by Michael Anderson have opened up a more balanced attack for the 'Cats. Mussleman will try and match his three touchdown, zero interception performance he had just five days ago and lead the Bobcats to their first road win of the year.
The Bobcat D was relentless as well last Saturday, forcing a total of three turnovers and holding the Hilltoppers scoreless in, both, the first and fourth quarters. Wiley Brown was responsible for two of the turnovers and he along with team tackles leader, Nick Sharga, and sacks leader, Marcus Spearman, hope to continue their ways against the Falcons.
The Bobcats will get to enjoy an eight day off period before hosting the number two ranked team in the MEC, the Urbana Blue Knights, Saturday, November 9th at Cebe Ross Field to culminate the 2013 season. Game time for that game will be 1pm.
