Box Score Charleston, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Wesleyan Women's Soccer Team defeated the University of Charleston Golden Eagle's 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
This win sees the Bobcats to their fourth consecutive win and improving their Mountain East Conference record to 5-1-1. They currently sit second in their conference only behind the undefeated Notre Dame who are 7-0-0.
The game winning goal came from Wesleyan's Colette Biondi in the 17th minute, and the assist was from Jade Smith. Biondi is leading the Bobcat's in goals finding the back of the net a total of 4 times so far this season.
Wesleyan held on to their one goal advantage despite being outshot 10-16 by the Golden Eagles. Charleston also had 4 corners to Wesleyan's 2, but could not overcome the Bobcat's defense.
The Lady Bobcat's defense aided goalkeeper Lauren Duncan to her third shutout in a row. Duncan recorded 7 saves ensuring the win.
Now 6-3-1 overall, Women's Soccer hope to continue their good form on Wednesday October 9 when they travel to fellow MEC rivals West Liberty for a 3:30 kick-off.
