Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Glenville State raced to a 40-17 lead and never looked back on its way to a 97-72 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday evening.
Ginny Mills (31), Kenyona Simmons (14), LaToya Hambrick (12) and Kenyell Goodson (10) all finished in double figures for GSC. Jelena Elez dished out 10 assists.
The Lady Pioneers forced 25 Wesleyan turnovers and scored 24 points off of those turnovers. GSC nailed 16 threes in the game, while limiting Wesleyan to just three. Wesleyan held a 53-45 advantage on the glass in the game.
Glenville State buried nine threes to build a 40-17 advantage to open the game. The Lady Pioneers went to the lockers with a 49-29 lead.
GSC hit on 9-of-27 attempts from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes, while Wesleyan went 0-for-6 from distance. The Pioneer press forced 17 turnovers and turned them into 18 points in the half. WVWC held a slight 31-27 advantage on the glass.
Wesleyan pulled to within 14 briefly in the second half, but the Pioneer press and threes were too much, allowing GSC to come away with the 97-72 win.
The Bobcats will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they travel to Seton Hill at 2 p.m.
