SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd scored 61 points in the second half to down Wesleyan, 105-91 on Thursday evening.
Kelsey Williams scored 23 points to lead the Bobcats. Chris Dewberry (17) and Garrett Grantham (15) each reached season-highs in points, while Ray Warren finished with a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds). Caleb Ashley added 11 points for Wesleyan.
Shepherd's Chad Moore registered a season-high 39 points with five rebounds and five assists. Brantley Osbourne added 21 points on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Sidney McCray (14) and Marcus Pilgrim (11) also finished in double figures for the Rams. Austin Cunningham handed out a team-best 10 assists.
SU scored 21 points off of 16 WVWC turnovers and held a 34-26 advantage on the glass.
WVWC started fast with a 16-10 lead capped by Williams' traditional three-point play. WVWC would hold the lead until a late 8-0 sprint put the Rams in front 38-33. Wesleyan closed the half, scoring 11 of the final 17 points to knot the game at 44-44 heading to the locker room.
The Bobcats grabbed a brief 51-50 lead in the second half, but six turnovers led to a 30-12 surge by the Rams and made the score 80-63. Wesleyan couldn't overcome the blitz, falling 195-91.
Wesleyan will look to close out the regular season with a win over Davis & Elkins on Saturday at 4 p.m.
