Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord completed a regular season sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan with a 77-66 win on Monday evening.
Brittany Maxey led all scorers with 22 points on the night. Danesha Richardson finished with a double-double (13 points, 15 rebounds). The 15 rebounds marked a season-best for Richardson. Brittany Williams finished with 10 points off the bench for WVWC.
Concord was guided by Leslie Mack's 18 point effort. Stephanie Wagner (13), Jacquekine Kestner (12) and Amanda Smith (12) also finished in double figures for the Mountain Lions.
Concord took full advantage of free throw opportunities, making 18-of-23 attempts (78 percent), while Wesleyan managed to make just 17-of-27 (63 percent).
Neither team was able to gain more than a one possession lead until the Mountain Lions used a 7-2 sprint to make the score 26-20. The run was capped by a three from Kestner. Wesleyan responded with a 9-2 jolt to grab a 29-28 advantage. CU went to the break with a slim 34-33 lead.
Concord led 55-53 with just over nine minutes left, before going on a 12-4 surge to take their largest lead of the contest at 67-57. Mack ignited the run with a three point bucket. The Lady Bobcats pulled back within four with a 9-3 run to make the score 70-66. Maxey capped the run with a three. The Mountain Lions scored the game's final seven points to secure the 77-66 victory.
The Lady Bobcats return home on Thursday to take on Shepherd at 5:30 p.m.
