ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord held Wesleyan without a field goal over a 15 minute stretch in the second half to claim a 58-52 win on Monday night.
Kelsey Williams registered a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Noah Cottrill added 11 points
Damien Tunstalle, Thomas Brown and Mike Boyd each finished with 11 points for the Mountain Lions
The Concord bench outscored Wesleyan's bench 29-4.
The Bobcats tipped off the game with a 14-2 surge ignited by a pair of threes from Cottrill. Concord chopped away at the lead with a 14-5 jolt to make the score 19-16. The CU run was aided by five Wesleyan turnovers. Concord continued to battle the rest of the half and was able to take a 32-31 lead to the break.
Wesleyan held a slim 19-16 advantage on the glass in the first 20 minutes, but committed eight turnovers to Concord's four.
WVWC opened the second half with a 10-4 surge to go in front 41-36. Cottrill and Caleb Ashley buried back-to-back threes to close the run with 16:30 to play. Concord outscored Wesleyan 18-2 over the next 15 minutes, holding the Bobcats without a field goal until the 1:30 mark of the half to take a 54-45 lead. The Mountain Lions held on for the 58-52 victory.
Wesleyan faces off against Shepherd on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
