Gannon Edges Wesleyan, 6-4

SALEM, Va. – Three Wesleyan errors in the sixth inning led to a pair of Gannon runs and, eventually, a 6-4 win for the Golden Knights.

Gannon got on the board early in the the first with a sacrifice fly to go on top 1-0. Paige Cummings tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth with a solo blast. A two-run homer in the sixth gave Gannon a 3-1 advantage. A trio of errors later in the inning plated two more runs to make the score 5-1. Kaitlyn Carey cut the deficit to one a 5-4 with a three-run bomb in the bottom half. Gannon added insurance in the seventh with a solo home run to secure the 6-4 win.

Carey was saddled with the loss, yielding six runs (four earned) on seven hits, while striking out three and walking one.

Wesleyan will continue play in Salem tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
