BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Wesleyan dropped its first conference match of the spring Saturday, falling to defending league champion Bluefield State, 5-2.
The Bobcats struck first when Aitor Reparaz and Joel Izquierdo upset Jacb Carey and Piotr Kruk at #1 doubles by a score of 8-4. The BSC duo came into the match as the top ranked doubles team in the Atlantic region. Wesleyan couldn't maintain the momentum however, dropping the other two tightly contested doubles matches.
Eduards Gusevs secured another point for the visitors before the Big Blues closed out the match with singles wins on courts 1, 5 and 6.
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow when they square off against the University of Charleston in the final leg of their weekend road trip.
