Box Score 2 BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – Wesleyan downed Seton Hill 20-1 in game one, but a pair of seventh inning errors left the Bobcats with a disappointing split, 5-2.
Megan Malenstyn registered a two-run triple as part of a four run first inning for the Bobcats. Seton Hill got back-to-back doubles in the top of the second to cut the deficit to 4-1, but it was all Wesleyan from there. The Bobcats batted around in both the second and third innings, scoring 15 runs to take a commanding 19-1 lead. Valerie Garris homered in the first official at-bat of her career in the fourth to set the 20-1 score.
Kaitlyn Carey worked three innings, giving up one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts to get the win. Kaitlyn Hanna tossed the final two innings, allowing one hit.
Game two was scoreless until Carey homered to center in the bottom of the fourth. The Griffins were down to their last out in the seventh before a pair of errors led to a run followed by a grand slam by Alex Alicea, sending SHU home with a 5-2 win.
Jessica Griffin yielded five unearned runs on six hits while striking out three.
Wesleyan travels to West Virginia State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
