Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Wesleyan softball team split a doubleheader with Charleston on Saturday. WVWC took game one 6-1, but fell in game two by a score of 5-4.
In game one, Rebekah Honce drove in a run in the second with a single to put Wesleyan ahead 1-0. Megan Malenstyn pushed the advantage to 4-0 with a bases-clearing single in the third. UC got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI single, but Malenstyn put the game away with two more RBI in the seventh to seal the 6-1 win.
Kaitlyn Carey allowed one run on seven hits, while striking out six to pick up the win.
In game two, Wesleyan held a 3-1 lead heading to the bottom of the sixth, but the Golden Eagles plated four runs in the frame to take a 5-3 lead. WVWC got one back in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Charleston claimed the 5-4 victory.
Jacqui Omichinski gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Jessica Griffin tossed one-third of an inning walking one.
Wesleyan travels to Davis & Elkins on Wednesday.
