Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. – Wesleyan split a doubleheader with Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats dropped a 4-3 decision in game one, and claimed a 3-1 win in game two.
WJU scored a run in the first inning after a Wesleyan error to take a 1-0 lead. Back-to-back RBI singles by Jacqui Omichinski and Paige Cummings put Wesleyan in front 2-1 in the third. WJU went back in front in the fifth with a three run blast. Megan Malenstyn cut the lead to 4-3 with a RBI single in the sixth, but that was all Wesleyan could muster, falling 4-3.
Kaitlyn Carey yielded four runs (three earned on six hits, while striking out seven and walking one.
In game two, Carey and Ominchinski each drove in a run in the third to put Wesleyan ahead 2-0. The Bobcats extended the advantage to 3-0 with a run in the fourth. A WVWC error in the sixth led to WJU's lone run, but Wesleyan held on for the 3-1 win.
Omichinski gave up one unearned run on five hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Wesleyan faces West Liberty on Sunday at 1 p.m.
