ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord registered a pair of conference wins over Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Lions took game one 9-0 and rolled to a 14-3 victory in game two.
In game one, Concord scored three in the second and six in the fourth to set the 9-0 margin.
Aaron Adams was tagged for eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Nick Benges allowed one unearned run on a hit and struck out one in a third of an inning. Dan Marcine and James Gainer each tossed a scoreless inning, giving up a hit.
In game two, CU scored nine runs over the first three innings to take a 9-0 lead. Spencer Webley homered, while Tom Brunswick and John Koon each plated runs with RBI singles to get Wesleyan on the board at 9-3 in the fourth. The Mountain Lions responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, and single runs in both the fifth and sixth, to seal the 14-3 win.
Andrew Ornes took the loss, working three innings, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits with a strikeout and a walk. Kyle Cheuvront allowed two runs on three hits in one inning, while also walking one. Robert Moneypenny went one inning, yielding one unearned run on one hit. Seth Corwin tossed one inning, surrendering a run on two hits, while walking a pair.
Wesleyan and Concord wrap up their weekend series on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
