Concord Finishes Weekend Sweep

ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord completed a weekend sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan with a 12-5 win on Sunday afternoon.

Spencer Webley put Wesleyan in front 1-0 in the first inning. CU plated three runs in the second, two in the third, and five in the fourth to jump to a 10-1 lead. A pair of Mountain Lion errors led to four Bobcat runs in the seventh to cut the deficit to 10-5. Concord scored one in the bottom of the inning and one in the eighth to set the 12-5 margin.

Dan Marcine gave up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits, while walking one in 3.1 innings on the mound. Chris Stein surrendered three runs on six hits, and struck out one in 1.2 innings. Nick Benges tossed a scoreless inning, allowing two hits. James Gainer and Robert Moneypenny each allowed one run in one inning of work.

The Bobcats head to Pitt.-Johnstown on Tuesday.
