ELKINS, W.Va. – The Wesleyan offense generated 17 runs on 22 hits to sweep Davis & Elkins in the final doubleheader between the two schools as conference foes. The Bobcats took game one by a score of 7-2 and coasted to a 10-1 victory in the night cap.

Paige Cummings opened the scoring with a RBI triple in the first, and added the Bobcats second run with a single in the third to make the score 2-0. D&E closed the gap with a solo home run in the fourth. An error gave Wesleyan its third tally of the game and Kaitlyn Carey sacrificed home the fourth run to extend the lead to 4-1 after five innings. Rebekah Honce delivered a solo blast in the sixth, while Carrey tacked on a RBI double in the seventh and later scored on a Honce double to put the game away. The Senators got one run in the bottom of the inning, but never mounted a serious threat.

Jacqui Omichinski allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out four and walking one to record the win.

In game two, the Bobcat offense wasted no time scoring four runs on RBI from Carleigh Hall, Cummings, Omichinski and Honce to jump to a 4-0 lead. Cummings launched a three-run blast in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0. The Senators lone run came on a RBI single in the bottom of the inning. Honce plated a run in the sixth and Tyler Welch added the finishing touches with a two-run single to seal the sweep.

Jessica Griffin earned the win, tossing four innings, giving up one unearned run on four hits while striking out four. Carey tossed two perfect innings of relief with one strikeout.

Wesleyan battles Alderson-Broaddus on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. in another important conference doubleheader.
