West Virginia Wesleyan Knocks Off Shepherd, 5-0

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan defeated No. 6 Shepherd in a battle of two WVIAC programs in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by a 5-0 score.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead by grabbing wins at all three doubles spots, including a come-from-behind victory at the No. 1 spot.

Joel Izquierdo and Aitor Reparaz pushed the lead to 3-0 by claiming a 9-8 (6) win at No. 1. Javier Yim Kim and Eduard Gusevs teamed up for an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot while Nathan Savil and Douglas Oliveiro posted an 8-1 win at No. 3.

Izquierdo made it 4-0 by tallying a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 position. Oliveiro, playing No. 3, completed the match with his 6-0, 6-1 victory.
