Box Score 2 GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Wesleyan picked up its third split of the week against Glenville State on Saturday. The Pioneers took game one 2-1, but Wesleyan bounced back for a 9-0 victory in game two.
GSC scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to go in front 2-0. Kaitlyn Carey belted a home run in the fourth to make the score 2-1, but that would be all the offense Wesleyan could muster, falling 2-1.
Jessica Griffin took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out four and walking three.
In game two, Carey roped a double in the fourth inning to put Wesleyan ahead 1-0. Alex Furr extended the lead with a RBI single in the fifth, and Carey drove in two more with a double to make the score 4-0. Emily Bennett kept the offense rolling with a RBI single later in the inning. Paige Cummings drove in a pair with a single in the sixth and Megan Malenstyn blasted a two-run homer in the seventh to seal the 9-0 win.
Carey tossed the complete game, yielding just two hits and striking out five.
The Bobcats will host Bluefield State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Steve Warner needs one win to reach the 800 mark for his career.
