ELKINS, W.Va. --It took a little over four hours, but the WV Wesleyan men's tennis team won a key 6-1 victory over Davis and Elkins Tuesday evening.
Three of the the top four singles matches went into third sets, while the number one doubles was decided in a tiebreaker. The Bobcats lost only one of the doubles, successfully raising their conference record to 5-2 and 9-4 overall.
"We needed this type of match," said coach Marc Walters, who added that he believed the 4 hour grind and warm weather showed his team was continuing to make progress going into the WVIAC tournament next week.
"D&E fought us in every spot, and we were strong and smart on the bigger points, where we have struggled earlier in the year. The guys are feeling good and fit, and are making good decisions because of it."
The Bobcats close out the regular season at home Thursday at 3:30pm against West Liberty at the Ross tennis center.
