Box Score 2 VIENNA, W.Va. – The Wesleyan softball team downed Glenville State 1-0, before falling to Fairmont State by a score of 5-2.
Carleigh Hall scored on a Pioneer error in the sixth inning to secure the 1-0 victory for the Bobcats.
Jacqui Omichinski hurled a complete game two-hit shutout with five strikeouts and one walk.
Fairmont State took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Holly Frampton. Three fourth inning errors by the Bobcats led to a trio of Falcons crossing the plate, extending the lead to 4-0. FSU's Amanda Skidmore added a RBI single in the fifth to make the score 5-0. Kaitlyn Carey laced a RBI double to center in the sixth to trim the deficit to 5-1. Paige Cummings drove in a run with a single in the seventh. Wesleyan brought the tying run to the dish later in the inning, but a groundout ended the game.
Kaitlyn Carey tossed four innings, surrendering four runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out three and walking two. Jessica Griffin gave up a run on a hit, struck out one and walked one in two innings.
Wesleyan faces Charleston in an elimination game at 10 a.m. on Friday
