Lady Bobcats Held to a Draw

Box Score

Athens, W.Va. -- Wesleyan's Women's Soccer were held to a 1-1 draw with Concord Mountain Lions on Sunday afternoon.

In a game that was closely contested, it took until the second half for either team to score. The Lady Bobcat's took the lead in the 70th minute through sophomore Hannah Gurtis which was assisted by sophomore Kristi Dalton.

Wesleyan was unable to see out the win and conceded in the 83rd minute to the Mountain Lions Emily Cole.

Even two periods of overtime could not separate the two teams, with the game ending 1-1.

The Bobcat's outshot Concord 15-13 and tallied 6 corner kicks to Concord's 3. Gurtis had the game high of 5 shots all of which were on target.

Wesleyan's goalkeeper Hillary Dewitt was only called into action 3 times whereas Concord's Kristin Twomey was forced to make a total of 8 saves.

The Lady Bobcats are now 1-1-1 for the season and are back in action Monday September 16 where they travel to Indiana (Pa.) for a 4pm kick-off.
