Box Score Buckhannon, W.Va. -- Women's Soccer were just too much for the Shepherd Rams with a 3-0 win on Wednesday afternoon.
With 3 minutes played, Wesleyan were straight into the action when a well-placed cross into the box from Megan McCoy found an unmarked Jade Smith just 6 yards out, giving the Bobcat's the 1-0 advantage.
In the 11th minute, Shaelyn McNamara almost found Smith for her second goal, with a cross from wide right, but her shot was well-blocked allowing for the Ram's goalkeeper Elizabeth Wise to pounce on the loose ball.
Rachel Ritchey, in the 34th minute, delivers a dangerous ball for Laura Hill, but Wise manages to punch the ball out only as far as Lexi Battocchi on the edge of the box, whose shot was tipped over. From the corner kick, Abbey Lindblad rose above her defender but to only head wide.
The Bobcat's continued applying pressure on the Ram's defense in the second half. With 52 minutes played, Wesleyan grabbed their second goal. A through ball by Smith found Kristi Dalton on the left hand side, who crossed to the back post for Colette Biondi to bundle the ball into the open net.
Wesleyan had their first scare on goal in the 58th minute, when Shepherd's Annie Orr found herself some space down the right, but her cross was dealt with by Bobcat's goalkeeper Jordan Marks.
With 65 minutes played, Lindblad, in a much similar situation to earlier, wins the header from a McCoy corner kick but is unable to keep it down.
The Bobcat's gave up a free kick in the 75th minute just 5 yards into their own half. An inviting ball from the Ram's was delivered into Wesleyan's box, but Shepherd failed to make anything of it.
In the 87th minute, Morgan Miles worked her way into the box for only her shot to be cleared off the line. Just a minute later, Ritchey chips the ball into the box where Colette Biondi on the half turn volleys past Wise for her second of the game, and Wesleyan's third.
The Lady Bobcat's outshot the Ram's 8-3 and tallied 4 corners to Shepherds 2.
Now 3-3-1, the Lady Bobcat's are home to Urbana Saturday September 28 with kick-off scheduled for 5pm.
