Box Score BUCKHANNON -- The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats won a thriller over West Liberty here Friday night by a 3-2 score.
Wesleyan took the first two sets by 25-18 and 25-23 scores only to see West Liberty come back and take sets three and four by 25-22 and 25-23 scores.
Wesleyan won the nail-biting fifth set by a 15-13 score.
In that last set, Wesleyan jumped into a 6-0 lead but West Liberty deadlocked the score at 12-12.
Erin Bond had a kill for Wesleyan to put them up 13-12 and after West Liberty scored to make it 13-13, Bond had another kill to give Wesleyan a 14-13 lead.
With Lexi Walsh serving, Wesleyan won the final point for the victory.
The win was the sixth in a row for the Lady Bobcats of head coach Jackie Hinton.
They upped their record to 7-7 overall and 6-3 in the MEC.
West Liberty dropped to 6-13 overall and 4-4 in the MEC.
The game concluded Wesleyan's five-game homestand.
They will now take to the road for a pair of games.
They will visit Seton Hill for a non-conference outing this Tuesday at 7 p.m. and will travel to Fairmont State Friday for a 7 p.m. tip.
